Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
- Why use R-Admin and not a high street chain?
- We’re a small company run by a husband and wife team who’ve worked in the Computer industry for over 15 years, we do all the work ourselves and so
are not tied to providing “a support package”, we provide you with the support you need no more and no less.
We are available when you need the help and we come to you without charging you extra for the privilege. We’re not straight out of university; we have
real experience gathered over a number of years in organisations of all sizes. We’re real people, not a faceless multi-national company.
- I’m concerned about letting someone into my home that I don’t know, how can I be reassured?
- Firstly one of us holds a high level of security clearance which means that criminal records checks have been carried out. We always carry our driving licences with us as a proof of identity; we will also provide references on request. We are a limited company and additionally VAT registered, the reference numbers for these can be found in the central left section of the page, so that you may confirm these.
We are also more than happy for you to have a friend or family member with us at all times we are at your home or business.
- Do you charge a call out?
- No. If you are based on the Isle of Wight however, we would charge the cost of the ferry over. Also if you are outside a 20 mile radius from us
we would charge you 25p a mile after the 20 miles limit (each way) Customer living 25 miles away will be charged for 5 miles each way at 25p per mile giving a total mileage charge of £2.50
- What forms of payment do you accept?
- Cash, cheque with guarantee card, paypal, and direct bank transfer or, for established limited companies, charities and educational establishments etc,
by monthly invoice.
- How much do you charge?
- For standard technical support we charge £30 per hour (including VAT) for home users the minimum charge is 30 minutes i.e £15, for businesses the charge is £40 per hour and the minimum
is one hour. Thereafter you are charged to the next full hour. So a home user that calls us out and we spend 20 minutes resolving a problem would be
charged £15, a business would be charged £40. For home users there are no changes to the rates for late evenings, weekends or back holidays. For businesses
the rates will be agreed in advance.
- For Homework and home user file recovery service which is charged at £10 for up to 3 basic files (i.e Wordprocessing, speadsheet, presentation, and photographs), there after £2 per file.
If we are unable to retrieve the files there is no charge.
- We do have a flat rate of £70 for a PC or laptop full rebuild – but we would only do this if there is no other option and you have agreed for this to be
done.
- Other services such as web design, web hosting, training, software testing services etc prices are available on request.
-
Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes, there is a 10% discount to university students (proof of status required) and also for OAP’s.
- Would you really come out at 9 pm on a Sunday?
- Yes if we can, or provide support on the phone.
-
Are you available Bank Holidays?
- Yes.
- Do you provide hardware and software?
- We can do if you wish, and if we do we pass them on at cost although that is not really our business. We will however give you advice on where to buy,
we do not have any agreements with companies to send business on to them so our recommendations are based on our own or friends and clients experiences.
- What about cables and connectors and that sort of thing?
- These we can supply without any problem, we use a lot of these sorts of things so can often buy them cheaper than you would be able to.
- Can you give me a quotation before you do any work?
- Absolutely. Sometimes of course a problem turns out to be more than it originally appeared to be, but we’ll let you know if it’s looking like it will take
longer than anticipated.
- Do you support Apple Mac’s as well as PC’s?
- We can provide a small amount of support for Mac’s however this is not our field of expertise; we may well be able to recommend someone though.

- I’m a landlord and want some of my properties cabled up and wireless installed can you help?
- Yes.
- I’ve got a website but the person who used to deal with it no longer does can you help?
- Yes, however we would need access to the web hosting company, we can tell you what information you will need to give us in order for us to support you.
- I’m only a really small business and I just want a very basic website but can’t afford £200 a lot of people charge can you help?
- Yes, domains are not that expensive and we can put a one page very simple static site available for you for much less than that and we can host it for you at our off site ISP very reasonably.
- My printer is jammed is that too smaller problem for you to deal with?
- Not at all, just call us and we’ll help you out.
- I’m an OAP and want to learn how to use computers but evening classes didn’t help, can you?
- Of course, we know from parents, older clients and even clients parents that evening classes don’t always suit, they can be too general and the classes computer’s are
often different to that which you have at home, so we can provide one to one training at your home if you want. Oh and we’ve put together some training
manuals which we’re making the text and images larger in it – thanks to my mum for telling me it was too small for her.
- Got a question we haven’t answered?
